Here is a Post on some ideas for when you are feeling stressed.
As we come up towards Christmas and we find ourselves very busy and stressed, here are some ideas I have given people, if they are experiencing a stressful period in their life:
*Time management- think about using a Weekly Planner, to manage tasks in time frames that are reasonable and realistic
*Self care - during stressful periods, self care is more important than ever! So I recommend, using your Weekly Planner to Plan for activities that provide self care. For example: plan your 3 meals a day; plan to find at least 30 mins of exercise 5 times a week; do some Relaxation exercises daily (and before you go to sleep) ; and Practice Good Sleep Hygiene (see our Post written by Michelle)
*Problem solve some of the tasks you need to do, and ask others to help you out
*Try to practice mindfulness daily, start in the morning for 5- 10 mins, and stay in the present moment as much as you can, then Practice this Mindfulness exercise a few times throughout your day, so you stay grounded in the Here and Now. Use an App like 'Calm' (in the Settings, click 'Reminders' and this App will remind you throughout your day!)
* Be kind to yourself- notice some of your thoughts, your self talk when you are feeling stressed- and ask yourself, would you speak to your best friend, or your loved one like that? Then try speaking to yourself in a compassionate way, reminding yourself, 'you are doing the best you can'.
